Jangan salahkan orang yang memberi label "haunting vocalist" padanya, karena ia memang punya gaya demikian saat kemunculan perdana dulu, di tahun 2011. Namun setelah merilis album kedua, yang banyak dibantu oleh musisi dan produser lain selain Jim Abbiss, Birdy seperti punya hidup baru di musiknya. Album "Fire Withing" adalah revolusi musiknya, dengan single 'Light Me Up' termasuk dalam pasukannya.

Bersama Trey Starxx, Tom Hull, dan Rich Costey, Birdy mewujudkan visinya untuk memberi sedikit hiburan dalam banyak hentakan di single ini. Out of her box, ada adrenalin yang memacu di dalamnya. Gaya alternative yang berpadu dengan poprock dan sedikit soul sebenarnya mengajak cewek cantik ini untuk melakukan vokal yang soaring layaknya Florence Welch. Yang terbaik yang Birdy bisa lakukan adalah memastikan setiap baris yang ia bawakan tidak overly done. Sehingga mendekatkannya pada gaya Colbie Caillat.

Salut buat Birdy yang enggak silau akan pesona Sia maupun Fraser T Smith yang ikut serta menggodok albumnya dan serta merta menampilkan karya-karya mereka sebagai single andalan untuk album ini. Tapi ia justru memilih 'Light Me Up' yang memberi standar baru baginya sebagai musisi dan vokalis. 'Wings' boleh mengantarkannya pada pintu selamat datang pada persaingan musik pop global, tapi 'Light Me Up' merupakan jamuan resmi yang ia buat sendiri untuk keberhasilannya bergabung dan menjadi satu yang diperhitungkan!
