Band pengusung elektronika/EDM asal Inggris, Clean Bandit, mencuri perhatian berkat single-single yang mereka rilis, termasuk Rather Be yang menampilkan vokal dari Jess Glynne ini. Kesuksesan single ini ditandai dengan bertengger selama empat minggu di posisi #1 chart Inggris serta menggeser rekor Get Lucky milik Daft Punk karena dipuar sebanyak 1.09 juta hanya dalam seminggu di bulan Februari yang lalu.
Lantas apa istimewanya Rather Be? Selalu menyenangkan mendengarkan musisi yang mampu mengemas lagunya dengan memadukan antara semangat komersialisme dan artistik yang terjaga dan seimbang. Band pengusung deep house/elektronika asal Inggris, Clean Bandit merupakan salah satu contoh baiknya.
Lantunan iramanya tidaklah melaju kencang, melainkan berjalan dengan tempo yang sedang. Meski begitu beat yang berederap ala house menjadi kekuatan utamanya. Dan Clean bandit tidak hanya mampu menyusunnya menjadi barisan melodi yang catchy, tapi juga renyah untuk diikuti. Tenang di awal dan berdegup dengan intens saat memasuki chorus.
Hadirnya vokal Jess Glynne mungkin membuat lagunya terdengar RnB-ish, akan tetapi beat catchy yang ritmis yang mereka tawarkan juga sulit untuk dinafikan. Dengan perpaduan yang memakai takaran yang pas dan tepat guna, tidak heran jika Rather Be begitu mencolok.
Debut Clean Bandit, New Eyes, layak ditunggu berkat single-single yang sudah mereka rilis, termasuk Rather Be yang sangat mencuri perhatian.
