Entah butuh berapa banyak keyakinan lagi bahwa manusia adalah penyelamat bagi diri mereka sendiri. Tema ini tidak luput dari lirikan band The Script juga dalam single terbaru mereka, Superheroes.
Sebagai band Pop Rock yang telah mendapat tempat tersendiri diantara penikmat balada anti move-on, The Script mengajukan satu konsep yang berbeda. “Everyone have their own battle. Be Respect”. Sebuah lagu bertema self-esteem yang dipadukan dengan refrain yang sangat mencuri perhatian.
Bukan 2 hal itu saja yang menarik, sejak kapan The Script menonjolkan piano dalam musik mereka? Saya malah sempat menyangka sedang mendengarkan Five For Fighting. Setelah detik ke 11, vokal Danny yang disambut oleh dentuman drum dan ciri khas sound The Script mulai terlihat. Musik mid-tempo yang mencapai titik kulminasi emosi pada bagian refrain.
Lirik When you've been fighting for it all your life/ You've been struggling to make things right akan cocok sebagai teman para pekerja urban ataukah mereka yang sedang berjibaku dengan impian, harapan, ataukah sedang berada di titik terendah dalam hidup. Everyone is been there, done that. Sebuah simpulan yang kemudian dipertegas lagi dalam larik, That’s how a superhero learns to fly.
Track Superheroes diperkenalkan sebagai single andalan album No Sound Without Silence. Liriknya ditulis sendiri oleh Danny dan Mark Sheehan, dibantu oleh James Barry. Resmi dirilis pada tanggal 22 Juli 2014, mereka yang dulu dilirik sebagai The Man Who Can’t Be Moved akhirnya menjadi Superheroes. Siapa yang bisa menyangka?
Sebagai pendukung elemen pahlawan, The Script terbang ke Johannesburg, Afrika Selatan untuk melakukan syuting video musik. Melalui wawancara CapitalFM, Danny menjelaskan mengapa harus Afrika, “because they are our superheroes, people who are going through the hardest of times but can keep their head held high. That’s basically what the song is about.”
Bisa jadi The Script terlihat masih main dalam batas aman musik mereka. Walaupun dari segi tema mereka mengeksplorasi hal yang lebih jauh selain patah hati dan balada move-on. Track ini bisa membuat orang sing-a-long dan memberikan semangat bagi mereka yang sedang membutuhkan. Sedangkan bagi yang lain? Track ini akan terlupakan dengan cepat. Cheers.
