'King of the World' sebagai single terbaru dari boyband Blue merupakan sebuah gebrakan dari segi musik. Lagu ini menganut aliran soul, R&B dalam musiknya, yang sedemikian mirip dengan hit Ben E. King di tahun 60-an, 'Stand By Me'. Gerakan musik dari arahan bass mengefek pada kemiripan kedua karya seni ini. And now we're talking!
Ditulis oleh Paul Barry, James Jeffery, dan Patrick Mascall bersama salah satu anggota grup, Simon Webbe, lagu ini jelas membuka cakrawala baru terhadap khazanah musik Blue. Usia band yang tahun ini menginjak angka 15 (meski tak penuh karena sempat hiatus lebih dari 5 tahun) memang menampakkan evolusi dalam karya mereka saat sekarang. Dulunya, R&B adalah satu corak yang mempengaruhi lagu-lagu pop Lee Ryan cs ini. Dan kini, it's getting more black dengan infus soul yang lumayan pekat. Kesan pendewasaan pun muncul, semakin serius untuk membuat karya bercita rasa tinggi, tak sekedar umbar catchy ataupun untuk tumbuh sebagai sebuah radio hit.
Ingat lagu acoustic based 'Best in Me' yang pernah Blue rilis pada zaman dahulu kala? Well, it's actually not that long time ago, but the point is lagu ini juga menjorok pada gabungan vokal yang padu dan solid dari keempat pria Inggris ini di dalam lagu tersebut. Mengerti maksudnya? Bahwa selain menghidupkan kembali memori ke tahun 60-an, Blue juga menggerakkan potensi pribadi yang mereka sudah punya.
Boleh dibilang pemanfaatan maksimum akan kesempatan kedua yang mereka peroleh, dimulai dari Eurovision di tahun 2011 dan berlanjut ke Big Reunion di tahun 2012. Komitmen telah Blue tunjukkan lewat "Roulette" yang dirilis dua tahun lalu. Sekarang mereka berevolusi guna merealisasikan dedikasi mereka terhadap dunia musik. Dan ini akan membut "Colours", album terbaru Blue mendapat label "anticipated".
