Lady Gaga akan mendapat penghormatan oleh Songwriters Hall of Fame. Dan mother monster akan menjadi penerima pertama Contemporary Icon Award di acara Songwriters Hall of Fame ke-46 yang akan berlangsung di Marriot Marquis Hotel di Manhattan, New York, pada tanggal 19 Juni.
Berdasarkan pernyataan yang dirilis oleh Songwriters Hall of Fame pada Kamis, tanggal 23 April kemarin, anugerah tersebut akan diberikan kepada seorang penulis lagu "who has attained an iconic status in pop culture." Selain bernyanyi, Gaga pun turut menulis beberapa hits yang ikonik seperti "Poker Face", "Just Dance" dan "Applause".
Presiden dan CEO Hall Of Fame, Linda Moran, mengatakan jika, "It could be said that this honor was created with Lady Gaga in mind. She has enjoyed monumental popularity on the charts, on radio, TV and the Internet, not to mention the continuous press coverage she has generated."
"She is a consistent hit maker who has surprised everyone by proving to be as adept with the great standards as she is with her own songs. We at SHOF are particularly proud that Lady Gaga performed at one of our songwriter showcases when she was still known as Stefani Germanotta," lanjut Moran.
Gaga akan bergabung bersama beberapa nama musisi lain seperti Bobby Braddock, Willie Dixon, Robert Hunter & Jerry Garcia, Toby Keith, Cyndi Lauper dan Linda Perry yang akan ditasbihkan ke dalam Hall of Fame. Sementara itu Van Morrison akan menerika Johnny Mercer Award dan Nate Ruess dari fun. akan menerima Hal David Starlight Award.
