Released by: Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia'Cheerleader' merupakan lagu reggae milik penyanyi asal Jamaika, OMI yang sebenarnya sudah dirilis pada tahun 2012 yang lalu. Tapi di tahun 2014 yang lalu, DJ asal Jerman, Felix Jaehn, melakukan remix untuk lagu ini dan ternyata, perlahan tapi pasti, sukses di banyak negara dengan duduk di posisi #1 tangga lagu mereka, termasuk baru-baru ini Inggris, dimana 'Cheerleader' berhasil menjadi juara untuk beberapa minggu.
Sebenarnya apa istimewanya lagu ini?
'Cheerleader' sebenarnya bisa disebut sebagai tipe grower atau membutuhkan beberapa kali dengar untuk benar-benar bisa masuk ke dalam tone dan ritmenya, meski tentu saja tak menutup kemungkinan untuk bisa menyukainya dalam sekali pendengaran.
Mengapa membutuhkan respon yang lama untuk menyerap lagu ini? Karena lagunya cenderung bergerak di tempo yang bergerak dengan monoton. Sebagai lagu dance ia tidak melaju terlalu cepat, sedangkan sebagai lagu "slow" ia masih dapat dikategorikan terlalu cepat. Geraknya yang merambat ini, dan didukung pula oleh vokal OMI yang juga terkesan repetitif, mungkin menjadi alasan kenapa akan agak sulit untuk bisa tune-in ke lagunya secara seketika.
Tapi, terlepas dari itu, lagunya sebenarnya cukup adiktif. Pergerakan monoton dan repetitif tadi malah terdengar seperti mantra yang menghinotis. Apalagi bagian chorus dihadirkan dengan cukup intens (hanya saja bukan seperti intensitas progressive house misalnya), sehingga membuat lagunya enak menjadi teman berdansa kecil di lantai dansa.
Meski tetap mengedepankan reggae sebagaimana versi aslinya, tapi di tangan Felix Jaehn, 'Cheerleader' juga dibalut dengan sedikit sentuhan deep house dan chill-out yang memikat, sehingga sangat menyenangkan untuk disimak dan tidak menghilangkan cita rasa dance-nya.
Satu yang pasti, 'Cheerleader' adalah sebuah anthem musim panas untuk tahun ini.
