Single of The Day: Bruno Mars – Grenade

Dia diunggulkan untuk 7 Grammy tahun ini. Gila ga? Dialah Peter Gene Hernandez alias Bruno Mars. Album pertamanya “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” belum berhenti mencetak hits. Ini single kedua dari album tersebut, yang sudah muncul di puncak tangga lagu Billboard, ‘Grenade‘. Bagi cowok kelahiran 8 Oktober 1985 ini, kembalinya namanya ke puncak tangga lagu akan memperjelas posisinya sebagai musisi yang diperhitungkan, sekaligus menambah credit baginya sebagai bahan pertimbangan para juri Grammy untuk menobatkannya sebagai Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

Mudah sekali bagi seorang Bruno Mars dalam menciptakan lagu. Buktinya aja dia sanggup mengkreasikan nada dan kata dalam satu kesimpulan judul “Granat”. How come? Lemme tell ya. Orang bilang cinta itu buta, dan si Bruno dalam lagu ini mengisahkan kebutaannya akibat cinta hingga rela menderita. Apakah dia dalam keadaan sadar ketika menderita dalam cinta? Kayaknya sih iya, karena di bagian akhir chorus sempat memberikan pernyataan “but you won’t do the same...” bahkan beberapa sebutan ditujukan kepada pasangannya; wanita nakal, pembohong, penipu. Mungkin beberapa akan menerjemahkan lagu ini sebagai sebuah bentuk balas dendam atas kegagalan satu hubungan, kalau aku sih ngambilnya sebagai bentuk pengakuan kebohodan karena sudah terjerumus.

Sebutkan satu nama penyanyi cowok yang udah muncul di puncak BB Hot 100 Singles sebanyak 3 kali dalam dekade ini? Eminem? Salah! Dia cuman punya 2; ‘Not Afraid’ dan ‘Love The Way You Lie’. Jawabannya ya Bruno Mars! Dia sudah 3 kali di puncak tangga lagu terbaik Amerika tersebut. ‘Nothin’ On You’, ‘Just The Way You Are’, dan ‘Grenade’. It’s so easy to feel the love to the energy of the song. Enggak bisa sekali putar, mesti berkali-kali.
