Pada awal tahun 2010 tidak lama setelah Fall Out Boy memutuskan untuk hiatus, Patrick Stump mengumumkan bahwa Ia akan mengeluarkan album solo. Namun sepanjang tahun 2010 tidak kunjung ada kabar tentang album solo dari Patrick Stump ini dan tiba-tiba saja di penghujung tahun 2010 Ia mengeluarkan 1 buah lagu dengan 2 versi berbeda yaitu Spotlight (New Regrets) dan Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia) dimana kita bisa ikut untuk vote versi mana yang lebih kita inginkan untuk dimasukkan ke dalam album. Hingga saat review ini ditulis, Oh Nostalgia masih memimpin dengan persentase sebesar 55%-45% dan memang kemungkinan besar Oh Nostalgia-lah yang akan masuk karena sejak awal vote dibuka Oh Nostalgia selalu memimpin walaupun hingga saat ini vote masih dibuka.
Lagu Spotlights (Oh Nostalgia) ini berdurasi 4:04 diciptakan, diproduseri dan bahkan Patrick sendiri yang memainkan semua alat musik dalam lagu ini. Lagu ini mempunyai lyric yang cukup kuat dimana lyric dari lagu ini mengingatkan kita untuk mengikuti kata hati dan jangan selalu mengikuti apa kata orang ‘they might try to tell you how you can live your life but don't, don't forget it's your right, to do whatever you like’ karena kitapun bisa sukses atau berhasil dengan kemampuan kita sendiri ‘You could be your own spotlight, you could be the star, you can shine so bright’. Dari segi musik, lagu ini dibuka dengan dentuman bass yang repetitif diikuti oleh dentingan piano di sepanjang verse pertama dan memasuki chorus barulah terdengar suara instrumen lainnya. Pada beberapa bagian dalam lagu ini sekilas mengingatkan kita akan musik dalam lagu-lagu Fall Out Boy terutama dari album terakhir mereka ‘Folie a Deux’. Hal ini cukup bisa dipahami karena selama Fall Out Boy masih aktif, Patrick adalah composer dari hampir semua lagu Fall Out Boy sehingga untuk bisa benar-benar lepas dari sound Fall Out Boy tentulah sangat sulit.
Secara keseluruhan lagu ini sangat baik dan cukup menyegarkan karena akhir-akhir ini dunia musik sedang digempur oleh musik-musik electro, RnB dan Hip Hop. Jadi sambil menunggu album yang dinobatkan sebagai ‘The Most Anticipated Albums of 2011’ oleh Alternative Press ini, marilah kita bernyanyi bersama Patrick Stump dalam lagu ini dan berusahalah menjadi orang yang lebih percaya diri lagi karena ingat ‘You could be your own spotlight’ !!
