Perjalanan menemukan The Voice untuk kelima kalinya kini menyentuh pada tahap Knockouts. Ini adalah prerogatif terakhir para coach untuk mempertahankan artis yang mereka inginkan. Untuk pertama kalinya, tombol di kursi coach masih berlaku untuk melakukan Steal di babak ini. Knockouts akan menentukan Top 20 The Voice Season 5!
#TeamXtina: Amber Nicole vs Josh Logan
Yang Christina Aguilera inginkan dari pemasangan ini adalah untuk melihat siapa yang paling menguasai arena. Amber memilih lagu 'Mama Knows Best' dari Jessie J. Bagian pre-chorus menjadi fokus CeeLo untuk ditampilkan sebaik mungkin. Penambahan gaya sendiri pada masing-masing penampilan membuat Blake menghadapkan Holly dan Nic di babak ini. Lagu emosional Radiohead, 'Creep' dipilih Holly. Terlalu banyak nada sumbang merupakan kritik Blake saat sesi latihan. Nic pilih lagu Christina Aguilera 'Genie In A Bottle' dengan versi yang super beda. Nada rendah Nic menjadi fokus kajian yang Blake berikan pada Nic. Keunikan Holly tak tampak menyeruak di penampilannya, mungkin akibat musik yang terlalu nyaring. Nic di lain pihak menjadi superstar di mata para coach.
X: Holly, love that song. I love that women are fearless. And I applaud and respect that alot. Nic, you took a risk with this song. You revamped it. You both showed a lot of bravery.
A: Holly, the emotion that you're showing did intend to overcome some of the performance. Nic, I miss you too man. I would go with you, Nic.

Lagi, Adam memasangkan dua vokalis berdasarkan kemampuan vokal mereka. Kejutan yang diberikan Ashley adalah pilihan lagunya. 'Hey Soul Sister' dari Train akan menunjukkan sisi Ashley yang fun. Adam menyatakan intro lagu ini harus dibawakan secara mulus. Ambisi Tessanne terlihat dari pilihan lagunya, 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)' milik Kelly Clarkson. Adam ingin agar Tessanne tak menjerit dan teriak di lagu ini. Lewat penampilan, ini adalah battle karakter vs powerhouse vocal. I'd choose Ashley for her unique quality.

Atas dasar persiapan yang mereka miliki, Blake memasangkan kedua artis ini. Tinggal siapa yang bisa memberikan passion. Lagu No Doubt 'Don't Speak' yang dipilih Briana membuat Blake agak khawatir dengan penampilannya nanti. 'Last Name' dan Carrie Underwood adalah lagu yang selalu membuat Shelbie menang di kompetisi menyanyi yang ia ikuti. Nafas adalah tantangan yang Shelbie temui di penampilannya. Kualitas Briana berada jauh di bawah Shelbie. Ini memudahkan Blake dalam membuat keputusan. Penampilan Briana adalah Knockout terburuk sejauh ini.
X: Bri, I'm so happy you found a home on #TeamBlake. Shelbie, that was the most confident performance in the Knockouts.
C: Briana, I think you sounded great as usual. Shelbie, wow. So much presence and charm and pesonality. I'd pick Shelbie Z.
B: These are two hardest working artists on my team. When somebody just flat out, outsings the other. That's what I feel like has happened here.

#TeamAdam: Grey vs James Irwin
Teknik yang dikuasai oleh kedua artis menjadi alasan Adam mengadu kedua artis ini. Adam mengkritisi penampilan Grey untuk lagu 'Already Gone' Kelly Clarkson yang berpotensi mengundang kritik dari Christina. James memilih lagu 'Breakeven' dari band The Script. I like Grey, tapi sejauh ini penampilannya sangat kaku. It's painful to watch her performing. Dan James Irwin menyajikan penampilan Knockouts terburuk kedua setelah Bri. Dia terdengar sangat amatir.

Christina ingin membentuk tim nya yang berisi penyanyi country terbaik. Destinee memilih lagu Carrie Underwood kedua yang ditampilkan di babak ini, 'See You Again'. Ending yang kuat adalah PR yang diberikan Christina pada Destinee. Live the song! 'You're No Good' milik Linda Ronstaldt adalah pilihan Olivia. Jauhkan penampilan ini dari penampilan karaoke, itu pesan Christina pada Olivia. Destinee masuk dalam daftar Knockouts terburuk. Sekaligus menjadi sebagai penampilan terburuknya sejauh ini. The song is TOO BIG for her.
A: It's really strong on both sides. I heard more issues with you, Olivia eventhough you give an amazing performance. Destinee, you got a bit nervous in the beginning. It's pretty dead even.
B: Destinee, your performance consistently just a litlle flat. Olivia, you're consistently sharp. You're singing over the note almost the entire time. I go for Olivia.
X: Destinee, you operate on emotion. And I always love about you. Olivia, we've all been guilty of letting nerves taking over.

#TeamCeeLo: Cole Vosbury vs Jonny Gray
Siapa yang bisa membuat koneksi ke penonton adalah yang ingin dicari oleh CeeLo. Lagu Passenger 'Let Her Go' adalah pilihan Cole karena lagu model begini adalah yang ia biasa ciptakan. Lagu The Beatles 'We Can Work It Out' adalah pilihan Jonny karena tipe lagu ini yang menjadi penyaji cirinya sebagai artis. Pilihan lagu yang sangat bertolak belakang di antara kedua artis ini adalah tantangan bagi masing-masing. I prefer Cole than Jonny on this one.

B: Jonny, I never heard a voice quiet like yours. Cole had more control over the song. I'd vote for Cole.

Gaya soul yang dimiliki keduanya membuat Adam memasangkan mereka. Ah, sudah ketahuan kalau Adam akan memilih Preston, karena suara pria ini adalah aset untuk kemenangannya. But, we'll see. Lina memilih lagu Etta James yang berjudul 'I'd Rather Go Blind'. Tekad yang Lina miliki mendapat pujian dari Adam, tapi nyanyiannya yang kurang dikontrol membuatnya tak puas. 'No Woman No Cry' milik Bob Marley dipakai Preston untuk menonjolkan kebisaannya yang lain. Lina punya power, tapi Preston punya karakter dan power.

X: Preston, I come to expect great things from you. It's hard to expand in that type of song. In the Knockout Rounds I wanna get to know more about you, I'm not sure I really got that. Lina, you just told me that was great.
A: Lina, I've seen so much improvement. You made this whole thing harder than I thought.

#TeamBlake: E.G. Daily vs Ray Boudreaux
Pengaruh blues yang ada di kedua artis ini Blake jadikan alasan pemasangannya. Karena ingin menjadi penyanyi adult contemporer country, E.G. memilih lagu Bonnie Raitt 'I Can't Make You Love Me'. Karakter erangan yang ia miliki dijadikan Blake sebagai senjatanya dalam penampilan di Knockouts. Blake sangat terkesan dengan kemampuan Ray membawakan lagu pilihannya, 'Hard To Handle' dari Ottis Redding. Ray memiliki banyak potensi yang masih bisa digali, sementara E.G. sudah mentok pada kemampuan maksimalnya.
X: Ray, you had a little bit of better control. E.G., the rasp did favour to you. I think I'd go with Ray.
C: Ray, you sang I'm a soul man. E.G., I'm so pleasantly surprised as you open your mouth.
B: E.G., there's a softer side inside of your voice that's closer to letting us see who's in here. Ray, you remember to take out a couple of words and allow you to take that one last breath to going on that big thing you did at the end.

#TeamXtina: Anthony Paul vs Jacquie Lee
Usia muda dan potensi yang besar memacu Christina untuk mengadu kedua artis ini. Siapa yang bisa tampil oke di bawah tekanan akan menjadi pemenang. Tujuannya menjadi penyanyi pop R&B, ia memilih lagu Jason DeRulo 'The Other Side'. Christina merasa pilihannya ini tidak mengakomodir kemampuan optimalnya, sehingga memberikan alternatif untuk mengeluarkan kemampuan puncak. Pilihan lagu Jacquie begitu anti mainstream, lagu dari Serena Ryder 'Stompa'. Asalannya kurang lebih sama dengan Anthony. Christina mengantarkannya pada penampilan yang dituntut sesuai dengan lirik lagu. Pesona bintang yang dimiliki Jacquie membuat Anthony mundur di bayang-bayangnya. Power dan versatil yang CeeLo cari pada kedua artis ini. Pujian atas penguasaan yang Stephanie punya pada karakternya untuk membawa lagu 'Don't Know Why' milik Norah Jones pada level berikutnya. CeeLo terkesan dengan selera yang Steph punya. Lagu Alicia Keys 'No One' dibawakan dengan gaya reggae oleh Tamara. Dan ternyata Knockouts ini berubah dari pertarungan power menjadi pertarungan versi beda. Christina tampaknya menanti moment untuk mencuri kembali artisnya yang lepas dari babak lalu.
A: Stephanie, I love what it says about you. I think you do have a lot to offer. Tamara, the reggae version is cool. Tamara, I take you.
B: Tamara, I was like "yeah". Great singing. I just think Tamara is awesome.
X: I thought it was great Knockouts. You're both so original. Tamara, you blew the roof off the house. I felt it from you, Stephanie. It was beautiful.
C: Stephanie, it felt like you sing through some nerves. Other than that, you are exceptional. Tam, you remind me of the young Anita Baker.

Adam memaksa James untuk menjangkau nada tinggi di lagu ini. Juhi memilih lagu 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine' dari Marvin Gaye. Yang menjadi catatan Adam bagi Juhi adalah tunjukkan range, jangan melulu tentang style. James dan Juhi menyuguhkan Knockout dengan persaingan yang ketat.
X: You both had great moments. JuJu, you're so carefree, that is was careless. James, the pitch was kinda all over the place. But I see the most potential in you moving forward with Adam.
C: James, I like the rebel yell. You do great job. JuJu, that was cool. I'd say JuJu.
A: James sing that song perfectly in the rehearsal. Juhi, you took the notes really well.

#TeamBlake: Austin Jenckes vs Brandon Chase
Pengaruh country dalam nyanyian emosional kedua memberi pandangan bagi Blake untuk mengadu demi mendapatkan yang terbaik. 'I'll Be' dari Edwin McCaine menjadi pilihan Austin. Blake sempat mencoba penampilan Austin di dua versi; akustik dan full band. Ia memutuskan untuk memakai band sebagai pendukung musik di penampilan Austin. Lagu Eli Young Band yang berjudul 'Even If It Breaks Your Heart' adalah pilihan Brandon. Meskipun sering mendengar lagu ini, Blake tidak menyadari tingkat kesulitannya. Maka ini bisa menjadi moment bagi Brandon, tapi berisiko menjadi malapetaka. Love them both!!!!
X: Austin, I just felt that it was power, power, power all the way thorugh. Brandon, the song choice worked really well for you. I'd say Brandon you took this one.
A: Austin, I was in it the whole time. Brandon, you're a little more insecure.

CeeLo melihat kedua artis ini memiliki enerji muda dan komersil. Caroline memilih lagu 'The Way I Am' dari Inggris Michaelson. Ia adalah anak emas CeeLo, tanpa ragu. Lagu 'Because Of You' dari Ne-Yo dipilih oleh George, dimana CeeLo sangat senang dengan kepercayaan diri yang dimilikinya. Karakter dan penampilan Caroline jelas berada di atas George. Seharusnya George mengetahui bahwa dirinya pasti kalah telak oleh Caroline dari awal.
B: George, this much flat, pretty much the entire performance. Caroline makes me wanna buy cat, and a pink blanket, and little fire in the house, and just curl up with a cup of hot chocolate. You're the best that there is this season.
X: George, you have such great potential and star quality. Caroline, you really draw people in with your voice. Your rhythm is really great. It's just effortlessly angelic. For me it's definitely Caroline.
C: George, I love you bro. Sometimes pop R&B dance music doesn't have personality. But you can dominate spesific genre. Caroline, she realizes herself today. She knows she's a star.

Christina ingin melihat siapa yang paling bisa menggetarkan penonton dari dua penyanyi ini. 'Cosmic Love' dari Florence + The Machine menjadi pilihan Matthew. Christina takjub dengan kemampuan Matthew, namun ia agak khawatir lagu ini akan membuatnya kelelahan. Kejutan datang dari Will yang menyanyikan lagu 'When I Was Your Man' dari Bruno Mars. Christina tak ingin Will menyanyikan lagu ini persis seperti Bruno, maka pendekatan penjiwaan harus dilakukan. Power yang dimiliki Matthew luar biasa!
C: Standing ovation for the both of you. Will, that really worked. It really was a pay-off. Matthew, you like the Mike Tyson of The Voice. You did the most stellar performance.
