Willow Smith Rilis Album Debut, "Ardipithecus", Secara Mendadak

Pada tanggal 11 Desember, secara mendadak Willow Smith merilis album debutnya yang berjudul "Ardipithecus", rilisan Roc Nation. Album ini menyusul barisan single dan EP yang telah dirilis putri pasangan Will Smith dan Jada Pinkett ini.

Smith yang kini berusia 15 tahun dan beken dengan single 'Whip My Hair' menulis dan memproduseri hampir keseluruhan materi yang terdapat dalam album "Ardipithecus", disamping hadir juga kakak laki-lakinya, Trey Smith (yang tampil dengan nama alias AcE) dan JABS di kredit albumnya.

"Ardipithecus Ramidus is the scientific name of the first hominid bones found on earth," kata Smith kepada The Fader tentang albumnya. "I wanted to name my musical compilation after it because while I was making these songs I was in such a transitional state. Digging deep in the soil of my heart and finding bits and pieces of my ancient self that tell stories, which end up being the lyrics to the songs."
