Presiden Recording Academy, Neil Portnow, menyebutkan jika penampikan Adele di panggung Grammy Awards yang berlangsung Senin kemarin sebagai "the most complicated show on television", dan kemudian memuji Adele karena sukses menangangi kendala teknis yang dialaminya saat manggung layaknya seorang profesional.
"We had the most complicated show on television. Period. End of story," kata Portnow kepada para wartawan seusai acara. "With each musical performance, we change over the microphones, the wires. I mean, if you've been backstage - I can't understand how they get it done, but they do."
Adele mengalami permasalahan teknis saat menyanyikan lagu 'All I Ask', yang sebagaimana diungkapkannya di Twitter, mic-nya terjatuh ke kunci piano sebelum ia bernyanyi. "The engineer people had to switch over on their backup system," jelas Portnow. "So to switch over on the backup system, they had to back out for a couple seconds in the house here, and that's what happened."
Terlepas masalah teknis, Adele tetap mendapat pujian untuk penampilannya yang memukau. "All credit to her for how professional she is. She did a great job and we certainly don't like when those things happen, but those things happen sometimes," pungkas Portnow.
