Sang hitmaker siap untuk menyabet gelar Female Artist of 2021, Song of 2021 dan juga Video of 2021 di perhelatan yang rencananya akan berlangsung pada tanggal 7 Desember 2021 mendatang dan akan ditayangkan secara simultan oleh NBC dan E! mulai jam 9 malam ET/PT ini.
BTS dan Justin Bieber juga siap untuk mendulang lebih dari satu piala. BTS untuk kategori Group, selain Song dan Video berkat 'Butter' dan 'My Universe'. Sedang Justin mengincar piala Male Artist, Song, Collaboration dan Video untuk 'Stay' dan 'Peaches', selain kategori Album "Justice." Lil Nas X juga dinominasikan di kategori-kategori yang sama.
Kategori baru untuk tahun ini adalah Pop Special of 2021, dengan para nominee-nya antara lain adalah film-film dokumenter dari Pink ("All I Know So Far"), Billie Eilish ("The World’s A Little Blurry"), Justin Bieber ("Our World') dan Demi Lovato "Dancing with the Devil").
