Empat cowok asal Australia yang tergabung dalam 5 Seconds of Summer ini sudah mencuri perhatian dengan single perdana mereka, 'She Looks So Perfect'. Langkah selanjutnya yang mereka buat adalah pencanangan album studio dengan perilisan single kedua terlebih dahulu. Adalah 'Don't Stop' yang mengajak Michael Clifford cs untuk membuka pintu kolaborasi dengan penulis lagu dan produser dari belahan dunia lain; busbee (Amerika) dan Steve Robson (Inggris).
Dari kerjasama tersebut, terwujudlah sebentuk komersialitas. Bukti utama adalah hook yang tercipta. Sejenak "know it, know it, know it" terdengar lebih catchy dibanding melodi yang dipakai untuk "don't stop". Kesan ini yang sebelumnya tak muncul dalam 'She Looks', yang murni terpapar sebagai bentuk idealisme. Dosanya, hook tersebut mengakibatkan irama poprock 'Don't Stop' mengandung potensi dancy yang amat pekat. Seketika melunturkan kualitas rock yang ada di awal. Kompromi terhadap idealisme demi responsif pasar agaknya menjadi strategi disini. Tinggal tunggu bukti, apakah hasil yang tercapai sesuai dengan tujuan yang ditentukan.
Dalam 'Don't Stop', pun yang belum tersaji di 'She Looks', adalah 5SOS mulai menerapkan pembagian vokal. Luke Hemmings membagi jatahnya untuk Calum Hood dan Michael Clifford. Ini seperti video-video cover yang dulu mereka unggah ke YouTube, membuat musik di ruang keluarga dan segalanya belum seserius sekarang. Satu hal yang perlu diingat adalah bagaimana mereka hadir laksana petir, menyambar di satu tempat namun dapat dilihat dari berbagai tempat. Dan semoga single kedua ini bisa menciptakan musim yang berkepanjangan bagi karir 5SOS.
