Lagu ini dipakai sebagai satu-satunya lagu orisinil yang dibawakan dalam film "Pitch Perfect 2" dan kemudian menjadi salah satu drama dalam cerita komedi musikal tersebut.

Ditambah kehadirannya sebagai satu dari enam lagu yang di-mashup untuk penampilan final The Barden Bellas, versi Jessie terdengar lebih relevan untuk disajikan sebagai hiburan di luar film.
Selain itu, saya dapat melihat kalau 'Flashlight' akan berjaya di ajang Golden Globe di akhir tahun nanti. Dari track record beberapa tahun ke belakang, mereka sangat menggemari lagu-lagu yang dibidangi oleh nama-nama dengan tingkat popularitas yang tinggi. Jadi jika tak ada kemunculan lagu untuk film yang dibidani oleh artis top hingga setengah tahun ini, peluang Sia dan Sam hampir 1 untuk mengoleksi GG.
