Sam Smith sudah pernah menyanyikan lagu milik Amy Winehouse, 'Tears Dry On Their Own'. Kini ia mencoba untuk menyanyikan kembali salah satu hits Winehouse lain, yang tak lain dan tak bukan juga merupakan satu yang paling populer, 'Love Is A Losing Game'.
Pada Kamis sore, 5 November 2015, ia melakukan premiere 'Love Is A Losing Game' melalui acara Annie Mac di BBC Radio 1. Menyebutkan lagunya sebagai "a monster of a song," Smith berkata jika lirik lagu tersebut adalah "one of the most relatable [he’s] ever heard".
Lebih lanjut ia menjelaskan pengaruh Winehouse dalam karirnya, "Sometimes people forget my age, I think. I was 11 years old when Frank came out and that album has really shaped me as an artist and my views on music and my relationship with music, lyrically. […] Just her rawness on such beautiful chords, on such expensive chords. It’s just amazing."
Cover 'Love Is A Losing Game' ini akan terdapat album repackaged "In the Lonely Hour: Drowning Shadows" yang akan segera dirilisnya.
