Tepat sebelum terjadi penghapusan, sang penyanyi 'Can't Feel My Face' ini menulis, "This my last post before the new era. Happy birthday to the legend @lamarctaylor, wouldn't be here without the vision. Let's shut Toronto down tonight. XO."
The Weeknd juga mengubah bio-nya menjadi "STARBOY". Sedangkan foto profil-nya diganti menjadi close-up matanya. Apakah ini menjadi sebuah gimmick untuk perilisan album barunya? Bisa jadi "STARBOY" adalah indikasi untuk judul album tersebut.

Sementara itu di Twitter The Weeknd juga telah mengubah foto profilnya serta latar menjadi layar kosong berwarna hitam. Pada tanggal 15 September, ia memposting sebuah twit yang terkesan misterius, yaitu emoji daun gugur dan jam pasir. Kemungkinan besar kode untuk perilisan album di musim gugur.

Dalam wawancara bersama VMAN Magazine baru-baru ini, The Weeknd mengungkap tentang album barunya. "There are new inspirations on this album," jelasnya, "The production feels aggressive but still sexy. The Smiths, Bad Brains, Talking Heads, Prince, and DeBarge play roles. We wrote it all in Los Angeles. I think it'll be the best-sounding album I've ever done. It's hard to label the sound because, when I first came out, nobody would label it R&B. I just want to keep pushing the envelope without it feeling forced."
